Will the Wii launch October 2nd? Many think so, because it's the day/week Nintendo isn't doing anything.
A July 25th article over at Gaming Target about Nintendo's game release schedule reads:
There was no direct mention of anything Wii related, but Nintendo did include this cryptic line in their announcement: "Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item." And I believe they are being serious.
The fourth quarter begins on October 1. Now look at the list. At least one game is released every Monday in the fourth quarter except for the following dates: October 2, November 20 and November 27.
November 27 is after Black Friday, so it's out. November 20 is after the launch of the PS3, so that's out too. That leaves us with October 2.
The Wii will launch on October 2, you read it here first.
Could the 2nd really be the release date? Today, Nintendo sent out a press release about their upcoming Nintendo Fusion Tour:
The Nintendo Fusion Tour returns in a big way this fall with Hawthorne Heights headlining the 40-city tour. Hawthorne Heights is joined by Relient K, Emery, Plain White T's, The Sleeping and very special guest star, Wii.

Notice, there will not be a concert held on October 2 or 3, and oddly enough, they kick it into high gear afterwards by jamming the month of October full of Wii appearances. Is this further evidence of an October 2nd launch?
All conspiracy theories aside, this would make the most sense for Nintendo. An October release would not only give them a head start over the PS3, but allow enough time for more Wiis to be available for the Christmas shopping season.
Are you going to the Nintendo Fusion Tour? I, and some other Blue Alien prophets, will be at the October 1st event in Covington, KY (AKA Southern Cincinnati). For information on tickets visit NintendoFusionTour.com
